RISE - Research Internships in Science and Engineering - gives students in the fields of biology, chemistry, earth sciences, engineering and physics the chance to spend a summer working with doctoral students at German universities and research institutions on serious research projects. The doctoral students help integrate the undergraduate directly into the lab work and serve as personal and professional mentors.  Participating Undergraduate Students in science and engineering get a glimpse of advanced research work while gaining desirable practical experience in their field.

The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program.

Students in the program have the opportunity to: obtain hands-on research experience in cutting edge laboratories; interact with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students; attend a weekly luncheon/seminar series of presentations by faculty; attend skills/development workshops to hone presentation skills, interview skills, etc.; attend and present at works-in-progress sessions with the cohort of SURP students; present their research at a special poster session at the end of the ten-week program...

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings (Hollings) scholarship program is designed to:

1. increase undergraduate training in oceanic and atmospheric science, research, technology, and education and foster multidisciplinary training opportunities;

2. increase public understanding and support for stewardship of the ocean and atmosphere and improve environmental literacy;

The Leadership Alliance Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP), offers undergraduates, interested in pursuing a PhD or MD/PhD, the opportunity to work for eight to ten weeks under the guidance of a faculty or research mentor at a participating Alliance institution. Through this one-on-one collaboration, students gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and scientific experimentation.

Amgen Scholars will:

Take part in important university research projects, gain hands-on lab experience and contribute to the advancement of science;

Interact with and receive guidance from faculty mentors, including some of the world’s leading academic scientists; and

Attend scientific seminars, workshops and other networking events.

The PPIA Junior Summer Institutes (JSI) have been the hallmark of the PPIA Fellowship Program for over 20 years. JSI is an intensive seven-week summer program that focuses on preparing students for graduate programs in public and international affairs and careers as policy professionals, public administrators and other leadership roles in public service. The JSI curriculum includes economics, statistics, domestic/international policy issues and leadership topics, all designed to sharpen the students' quantitative, analytic and communication skills.
