Summer Undergraduate Research Grants (Summer URG)
About
Summer Undergraduate Research Grants (Summer URGs) fund independent academic and creative work in all fields of study. Under faculty supervision, URG winners immerse themselves in novel scholarly projects in the laboratory, the library, or the studio, on campus and around the world. Projects must be eight weeks long, and students may not do any outside work during this time period (no internships or classes).
Grants provide a $4,000 stipend with additional travel funds available for international projects.
All Northwestern undergraduate students returning to school in the fall are eligible for these grants (graduating seniors are ineligible).
The new Summer URG-Advanced program provides the opportunity for students to receive a second summer of funding. It can be for a continuation of the previous project or an entirely new one. WCAS students must receive a WCAS grant as well before they are eligible for this program. More info can be found HERE.
